We’re thrilled to announce that California Math & YOU, the innovative K–12 math curriculum from Big Ideas Learning, has officially been approved by the California State Board of Education for mathematics instruction kindergarten through Algebra 1 and Integrate Math 1. This approval marks a significant milestone in transforming math education across the state.
Rooted in the California Mathematics Framework, California Math & YOU is a comprehensive, research-backed program designed to deepen students’ understanding of core math concepts while fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world application. The curriculum spans from kindergarten through high school, including Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Integrated Mathematics I, II, and III.
Each lesson begins with an engaging “Big Idea” and includes real-life data, environmental connections, and career-focused tasks to help students see the relevance of math in their everyday lives. Teachers are supported with robust instructional tools, including facilitation guides and prompts that encourage meaningful mathematical discourse.
